Coach Bios:

Oktay Armagan – Head Coach ’09 and Asst. Coach ’06

Coach Otkay brings a wealth of professional experience having coached with the 2019 Little Caesars 04 national champions, ECHL Reading Royals (Washington Capitals affiliate), Won 2005 ECHL Kelly Cup with Trenton Titans, St. Louis Blues video scout for 4 seasons along with various NAHL Junior, Prep School, Atlantic District Quebec team and youth hockey organizations.  He is also the founder and head coach of the NJ Raiders Spring and Summer Hockey Program. Coach Oktay has mentored and coached players from Mites to the NHL. Pro experience: Assistant Coach, Video Coach and Scouting with St. Louis Blues (NHL), Reading Royals (ECHL) and Trenton Titans. Trained 50+ NCAA players in past five years. Strengths include skills coaching, offensive and defensive player development and hockey awareness. 

Scott Greene – Head Coach ’07

Coach Greene is an area resident with a strong presence in the New Jersey hockey community where he has coached at the tier I youth hockey level for over seven years and has been a private hockey instructor for twelve years. Currently, he is in his second season as head coach at Morristown-Beard School, where he recently led the Crimson to a Mennen Division First Place Finish, Mennen Cup Championship, and the second-best record in school history. Most recently, he served as an associate coach with the New Jersey Colonials (Peewee Major 2007 Team). Prior to that, Greene served as an associate coach with the New Jersey Rockets (Bantam Major 2003 Team) and as both a head coach and associate coach for six years with the New Jersey Colonials (Squirt Minor – Bantam Minor 2000 Team). During this tenure, Greene consistently lead his team to USPHL/AYHL League Playoffs, including one AYHL Championship and numerous final appearances.

 Upon joining the New Jersey Jets, Greene brings an enthusiastic coaching philosophy centered around character development, by providing players the opportunity to maximize their potential in a competitive learning environment, both on-and-off the ice. His coaching style is rooted upon his relationship with the players, promoting an atmosphere of mutual respect with a strong emphasis on integrity, leadership, discipline, and teamwork. Greene emphasizes the core team values of selflessness, discipline, and teamwork to promote skill development and good hockey-habits; detailed by on-ice instruction, age-appropriate strength and conditioning, film review, and position specific skills training. Coach Greene currently serves as head coach for Morristown-Beard School and has coached various AAA teams with the Colonials and Rockets. He also serves as Sports Information Director and Spring Weight Room Director at Morristown Beard.

Sean Dowling – Head Coach ’06 and Jets Elite Coaching Director

Sean, a native of Long Island, played football, hockey and lacrosse for Holy Trinity Diocesan High School.  He then went to play NCAA football and Club Ice Hockey for the Long Island University Post Pioneers (formerly C.W. Post Pioneers).  This was followed by experience in the NFL as an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills. Sean brings to the NJ Jets Youth Hockey organization a Masters from Adelphi University in Sports Management with an emphasis on Athletic Administration and years of coaching ice hockey, lacrosse, football, and basketball for boys and girls at Oyster Bay High School, Elizabeth High School, Roxbury High School, Morristown-Beard School, Columbia High School, and Summit High School. In addition to Sean’s playing career, Sean coached ice hockey for 4 years at Morristown Beard School until 2005.  Sean progressed on to a prestigious career as the the Director of Athletics at Madison High School from 2006-2019 and was named Athletic Director of the Year in 2019.  He was also the AD when the Madison High School Varsity Ice Hockey won their first Mennen Cup victory in school history in 2019.

Vladi Kouroedov – Player skills coach (all teams)

Vladi is a dedicated hockey coach with over 16 years of experience coaching at youth and junior levels. He has taught at hockey schools throughout the United States, Canada and Europe since 2003. Vladi has worked with college and youth hockey players, U.S. and Russia Olympic and National team members and professional players, including many NHL and KHL stars such has Ilya Kovalchuk and Evgeni Malkin, with a focus on speed, agility and efficiency on the ice.

Tara Ostrowe, MS, RD, CSSD – Sports Nutritionist

Tara currently works as the team sports dietitian for the New York Red Bulls and is starting her 8th season with the team.  Additionally, Tara has a nutrition private practice specializing in sports nutrition and works at Columbia University Student Health Services.  Formerly she was the team sports dietitian for the New York Giants for 7 seasons, the team dietitian for AS Monaco FC for 4 seasons, the team dietitian for AS Monaco Basketball, and consulted with the NJ Devils summer development program.   Tara also was the team dietitian for all 29 sports teams at Columbia Athletics and all 17 sports teams at LIU Brooklyn.   She focuses her nutrition practice working with youth, adolescent, collegiate, and professional athletes.

Dr. Matthew McCarthy – Sports Neurologist

Matthew McCarthy, MD is a member of Summit Medical Group’s Pediatric Neurology team. He is board-certified in pediatric neurology and has additional fellowship training in sports neurology and concussion. Dr. McCarthy played college hockey for Williams College

Dr. McCarthy has expertise in managing acute concussion, post-concussion syndrome, and other neurological conditions in athletes of all ages and levels of competition. He specializes in using an active and individualized approach to symptomatic treatment and rehabilitation after concussion to ensure a safe and efficient return to sports and other activities. As a sports neurologist, he is focused on long term athlete brain health and promoting safe and lifelong sports participation. “I’ve been an athlete my entire life, and my choice to ultimately become a sports neurologist was driven by my continued passion for sports and physical activity,” says Dr. McCarthy.

Alison Grzyb – Joga and Yoga Instructor

Ali specializes in yoga for athletes and currently teaches “Joga”, a movement system that combines the benefits of yoga with the biomechanics of sport to the NHL.  With a background in kinesiology and psychology, she teaches athletes of all ages and sport backgrounds and believes mental toughness is just as important as physical.  By focusing on strength, mobility, flexibility, improved breath control and mindfulness tools, balance is restored in the athletic body and mind in preparation for peak performance.  Ali will work directly with Jets teams and also be available as a consultant to develop individual player plans.
